Call me an old traditionalist if you like, but there is nothing I enjoy more than getting stuck into a good book. The problem I have nowadays is actually finding the time to do so, what with businesses to run, a young family to help look after, and so on.
And, when you think about it, time is the only thing that is truly irreplaceable.
Money, possessions, anything tangible can be replaced. Time cannot – once the minute has passed, that’s it, gone for ever.
So, your time, my time, is valuable – literally priceless.
That’s why I’m such a huge fan of audiobooks. I can listen to whatever I want, whenever I want and wherever I want. Nothing could be more convenient or simple.
Audiobooks have allowed us, not only to only cut down on the way we use up our forests for making hardcover and paperback books, but also to make a library of books that we can take with us wherever we go.
The increasing popularity and availability of audiobooks has gifted us the unique advantage over our forbears of doing other things that take up our hands, whilst leaving our minds free to “journey” to wherever we want them to go. We can do whatever we want – household chores, commuting, exercise, shopping – while having the book read to us.
For these reasons, more and more ore people are embracing the wonders of audiobooks by buying their favorite books in audiobook format.

1 – In bed – On those days when you just want to laze around in bed, or when you are lying in the dark, trying to relax into sleep, what better way to assist than by listening to an audiobook? You don’t have to bother to put out the lights, or hold the book – just lay back, relax, listen and enjoy whilst someone else does all the hard work for you!
2 – In the kitchen whilst washing the dishes, putting the daily clothes wash in the machine or cooking. No doubt that for many people, the daily chores equals the daily grind, so take your mind off what your hands are doing by listening to a favorite audiobook whilst getting everything that needs doing, done. Keep your hands busy but let your mind wander free.
3 – Outside whilst keeping the garden spic and span, an audiobook can make the gardening fun because, if you chose to, you could concentrate on your audiobook if the tasks involved in gardening prove to be difficult or tedious.
4 – Whilst exercising, whether you are going out jogging, at the gym or maybe even cycling. Occupy your mind with an audiobook, whilst your entire body is kept busy doing other things! This is a great time to enjoy an audio book because, for most people, exercise is many minutes or even hours of strenuous physical activity, whilst their minds are doing little or nothing. Listening to an audiobook like this guarantees that not one minute of your oh-so-precious time is wasted.
5 – Listen whilst you are going about your daily commute in your car or on the bus or train ride to work. Most people lose a great deal of time doing nothing whilst commuting to and from their jobs, so why not listen to an audiobook, especially one that develops your mind and/or improves your professional and business skills?
6 – In the air while flying across states or continents. Perhaps you wouldn’t believe it, but there are people who spend more time in the air than on road, and this is an ideal time to help the relaxation process by indulging in a favorite audiobook title (but, please, remember to turn off your player during take-off and landing!). Gives you a great excuse not to listen to the bore sat next to you either (unless you happen to be related to them)!
7- At the shops, in your local hypermarket or strolling around the mall. After all, do you really want to have to listen to all of that dreadful piped muzak that these places assault your ears with?
8 – Just walking around your town or neighborhood. If it’s the same old dreary walk that you have taken a thousand times in the past, why not take your mind off the real world, and allow your mind and imagination to run free?
I’m sure that you can think of lots more places and ways that you can enjoy a good audiobook, but these are a few ideas for you.
